Second Skin Bandage
- Leave the provided "second skin" wrap on for 3-5 days, unless otherwise instructed by your artist
- This bandage protects the tattoo and helps the healing process
- If the wrap fills with excessive fluid this is normal and good for the tattoo,if bandage leaks,or falls off early, remove it and follow the cleaning steps below,contact artist for further advice if needed
Removing the Bandage
- Remove the wrap under running water best done in shower at end of shower
- Gently clean the tattoo with mild, fragrance-free antibacterial soap
- Pat dry with a clean paper towel or best to let air dry (Do not use cloth towels)
Moisturizing
- Allow the tattoo to air dry for a few minutes before applying lotion
- Apply a thin layer of water based,petroleum free,un-scented,alcohol free lotion (Aveeno,Lubiderm,Curel)or like lotion
- Do not over-apply lotion,over saturation of lotion kills the tattoo process and often can lead to diluted ink making it look blotchy and water logged,then it heals looking hazy and faded.Tattoos need to heal properly by letting the skin breath and healing from the inside out
What to Avoid
- NO swimmng (pools, lakes, oceans, hot tubs) for a minimum of 2 weeks or until fully healed
- NO tanning or sun exposure while healing
- NO picking, scratching, or peeling
- Avoid tight clothing rubbing the tattoo
- Change bed sheets,the bed is a great place to get tattoo infected.Bed sheets carry germs from animals,sweat,drooling,etc.
Healing Expectations
- Redness, light swelling, and flaking are normal
- Mild itching is part of the healing process
- Do not Pick scabs or flakes - this can damage the tattoo
